The heater of back glass consists of a set of horizontally located conductors which are raised dust on the internal surface of glass.
Insignificant ruptures of conductors can be restored without removal of back glass from the car.
You make check of a heater of back glass as follows:
For detection of a rupture of the conductor of a heater of back glass include ignition, and the switch of a heater of back glass.
Connect one probe of the voltmeter to positive contact of a heater, and the second to "mass" contact. If the voltmeter does not show tension, check the safety lock protecting an electric chain of a heater. If tension is brought to contacts of a heater, execute the following checks.

Fig. 15.44. Use of the probe of the voltmeter which is wrapped up by a foil for detection of a rupture of the conductor of a heater of back glass
|
Connect one probe of the voltmeter to "mass" of the car, and wrap up the second probe a foil and move a foil on the heater conductor (see
fig. 15.44
).

Fig. 15.45. Use of the voltmeter for detection of the broken-off conductor of a heater of back glass
|
Connect the voltmeter probe in the center of each conductor of a heater of back glass. If the voltmeter shows tension about 5,5 In, the conductor of a heater means it is serviceable. If the voltmeter shows tension 0 in or 12 V, so there is a rupture of the conductor of a heater (
fig. 15.45
).

Fig. 15.46. Use of the voltmeter for detection of the place of a rupture of the conductor of a heater of back glass
|
For detection of the place of a rupture of the conductor of a heater connect one probe of the voltmeter to the positive plug of a heater, and move the second probe on the heater conductor from the negative plug of a heater. The point in which tension shown by the voltmeter will reduce from several volts to zero will be is the place of a rupture of the conductor of a heater (
fig. 15.46
).
Before repair of a heater include it for several minutes.
You make repair of a heater of back glass as follows:
Restore a gap, using a special repair kit.
Smooth out conductors from two parties from a rupture of the conductor and degrease them.
Tape glass from two parties of the conductor in the place of its gap.
Prepare glue conducting structure from a repair kit.
Apply glue conducting structure to the place of a gap and the intact areas of each conductor on distance of 18 mm.
Dry up glue conducting structure during 24 h then remove an adhesive tape.
