Oil level in the automatic transmission has to be supported strictly on a certain size.
Low level of oil can lead to pro-slipping or loss of torque transmission while overflow can become the foaming reason that will lead to damage of the transmission.
Oil level in the automatic transmission depends on oil temperature.
When checking temperature of oil has to be 70–80 °C that is reached after a trip on distance of 15-20 km.
NOTE
If the car moved at a high speed for an appreciable length of time, or was operated in the city mode during a heat, or towed the trailer, oil level in the automatic transmission cannot be determined precisely. Stop the engine and wait 30 min. that oil cooled down up to the required temperature.
|
Check oil level on the car which is in horizontal position with the heated-up transmission and the lever of the selector transferred to situation "Park". Before check at the working engine press a pedal of a brake and move the selector lever through all provisions, beginning and finishing with situation "Park".

During the operation of the engine at a frequency of rotation of idling take the index of level from the directing tube
(fig. 2.3)
. On tags on the index of level check the level of oil and its state
(fig. 2.4)
.

Fig. 2.4. The index of level of oil in the automatic transmission: And — a zone of level of cold oil; In — a zone of level of hot oil; With — area of low level of oil on the cold transmission; D — area of low level of oil on the hot transmission
|
Wipe with pure rags the index of level of oil, insert it into the directing tube of the transmission and take. Check oil level. If the transmission hot, level has to be in the zone HOT (In in
fig. 2.4
). If the transmission cold, level has to be in the zone COOL (And in
fig. 2.4
).
If level is in the lower part of a zone, it is necessary to add oil in the automatic transmission through the directing tube for the index of level.
If the level of oil is on the lower tag, then up to the maximum size it will rise at addition about 0,55 more l.
When checking level of oil in the automatic transmission check also a condition of oil. Compare it on color, a smell and viscosity to new oil.
If oil in the transmission dark or black with a burned smell, so frictional overlays of the transmission are worn-out.
If oil in the transmission of dairy color, so water got to it. It can happen because of condensation of atmospheric moisture at continuous operation of the car in the mode of short trips. If color of oil does not change after a long trip, it is necessary to replace oil.
Because of an overheat of the transmission or too high level of oil it becomes dark brown, sticky to the touch. If replacement of oil does not yield result, address in a specialized workshop on repair of automatic transmissions.
If when checking level of oil or replacing oil in an automatic box in oil particles of dirt or metal shaving are found, it is necessary to repair the automatic transmission in a specialized workshop.
